The Minister of Health and Sanitation Dr. Austin Demby has provided essential baby items to mothers who gave birth on the feast of Eid-ul Fitri at the Princess Christian Maternity Hospital in Freetown.
The move according to him was to imbibe confidence in pregnant women to access the public health facilities for the appropriate services thereby reducing the infant mortality rate in the country.
The items included flasks, suitcases, towels, clothes, diapers, hygiene kits, blankets, and other basic essential health tools for newborn babies.
Dr. Austin Demby hoped the gift would help families record, remember, and celebrate their newborn babies.
