FORUT has released a five-year plan to battle poverty in communities, reduce inequalities and social exclusion. It talks about uniting communities to design, own and champion community programmes. |
The plan also aims at capacity building, mobilization, participation and alliance building among communities.
It will address eight clusters such as youth empowerment, addressing vulnerabilities and building resilience, infrastructure and economic competitiveness, diversifying the economy and promoting growth.
To make gains in all of this requires community participation and ownership of the programmes. Communities will sit, discuss and design programmes addressing community challenges while FORUT provides technical and financial supports for livelihoods that contribute to poverty eradication.
The plan ties in with the government’s medium term national development plan and United Nation’s sustainable development goals. It will contribute to provide basic social services to many communities, and divert government attention to other communities without the said services.
