National Commission for Social Action, with support from the German Government has conducted a day annual Pro-poor coordination and information sharing on the Growth for Peace Consolidation and Youth Empowerment project.
The meeting was to update senior directorates, Project Managers and stakeholders on the latest development on the inclusion of three other districts in the project which spans from 2024-2027.
Bo, Moyamba and Bonthe were the three Districts that have been included in the 17.5 million Euro cooperative agreements signed between the government of Sierra Leone and the Government of Germany.
Commissioner of the National Commission for Social Action Ernest Ndomahina said the project was part of President Bio’s drive in the feed salone agenda stating one of the main objectives of the programme was to contribute to youth employment in rural areas.
Program manager, NaCSA, Salifu Mansaray pointed out key indicators and directives to be followed in developing their plans which he said for some, it should be linked to the construction of feeder roads connected to agricultural districts.
From 2019 to 2021, Kailahun, Kono, Koinadugu and Kabala districts were targeted and in 2022 Kambia district was included.
Representatives from various districts appreciated government through NaCSA but they raised concerns on the phasing-out and sustainability strategies stating that some districts’ projects are yet to be completed
