ECOWAS on a three day joint planning session in Abidjan, to update member states of the 50 Million US Dollars African Women Speak Up platform.

ECOWAS, Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa and East African Community have organized a three day joint planning session in Abidjan, Republic of Côte d’Ivoire for experts and partners from the three economic regions to ensure better ownership and validation of the new functionalities.

It was proposed for the update of the 50 Million US Dollars African Women Speak Up platform.

The digital platform, launched in November 2019 gathers information from 38 African countries, and is aimed at contributing to the economic empowerment of women entrepreneurs by meeting their financial and non-financial information needs.

Meanwhile, senior officials from the Ministries of Trade of the Member States and Experts from the ECOWAS and UEMOA Commissions have met in Abuja to review strategic documents including: the ECOWAS Common Trade Policy the ECOWAS Trade and Investment Promotion Strategy, update on African Continental Free Trade Area negotiations and implementation, among other things. The meeting was in line with the directives of the Third Joint Meeting of ECOWAS Ministers of Trade and Industry aimed at finalizing the ECOWAS Common Trade Policy and other key trade facilitation instruments.
