The Family Support Unit of the Bo West Police Division is currently investigating one Christiana Gowah who was arrested and detained for allegedly trafficking a 14- week old Baby Boy from Freetown, now six months old.
The incident which was broadcast by the SLBC Morning Coffee Programme some six months back, happened at Dwarzack, New England, had to do with a breastfeeding mother who lost both twin babies during a surgery, one to the cold hands of death while the other to a trafficker, purporting to be a helper.
According to Detective Superintendent of Police, Line Manager Family Support Unit, Bo West Division, the arrest was made after a tipoff.
He said the suspect was arrested at Faguyah Community in Bo City together with the six month baby.
The matter will be transferred to Freetown for further investigations together with the suspect and the child that has been name as junior Dixon by the suspect.
Making her confession to the SLBC the child Trafficker, Christiana Gowah said, she did what she did out of disparate need for a child as a way to avoid embarrassment and provocations from relatives especially her spouse.
She said, her intention was not to punish the child or the parents rather to feel the motherly love she has been given to Junior Dixon while pleading for mercy for her actions.
